Basic Riding Course. Basic motorcycle riding courses are designed to help beginning riders between ages 15 years six months and up learn how to be safe and confident on the road. Millions of riders throughout the United States have participated in these courses in the last 40 years as they prepared to get their motorcycle licenses. WHAT IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS COURSE?
All riders MUST wear:
- 3/4 or full-face helmet (we will provide one to use, or you’re welcome to bring your own if you have it).
- Eye protection (if the class is at night, clear eye protection, like safety glasses, would be necessary).
- Long sleeve shirt or jacket.
- Sturdy pants (denim, at a minimum).
- Sturdy over-the-ankle footwear (not canvas).
- Full-finger gloves (we will provide these for your use, or you’re welcome to bring your own if you have them).
It is required that:
- You are able to balance a two-wheeled bicycle before riding a motorcycle in this course.
- You are older than 15 years and 6 months
The clothing list above is a requirement, not a suggestion. If you have even more substantial protection like motorcycle-specific riding gear, that’s even better. Finally, you must be able to balance a two-wheeled bicycle before you can ride a motorcycle as a part of this course. We encourage participants who haven’t ridden a bicycle recently to prepare for the course by frequently getting on a bicycle in advance of the course. We also require all our riders to be at least 15-years, 6-months of age.
You can find a Basic Rider Course almost anywhere in Arizona, whether you’re in the Phoenix Metro area or elsewhere in the state. We currently offer instruction in all the following areas:
Learn the Basics of Motorcycle Riding
TEAM Arizona’s Basic RiderCourse has been updated to provide even more value and instruction for beginning riders. We’re constantly learning how to make our training work even better for anyone who has little to no motorcycle riding experience. Not only is this new and improved course a proven way to learn how to ride a motorcycle, but it is also a ton of fun.
You can pick up some official training and certification along with the knowledge and skills you gain. Once you’ve passed our Basic RiderCourse, you won’t be required to take any further tests at the MVD to get your Motorcycle License (as long as you already have a Driver’s License). This makes our Basic RiderCourse far and away the simplest, most convenient way to get a motorcycle endorsement in Arizona. Plus you’ll understand the skills required to use it safely once you get it.
This course is extremely useful to riders returning to the road after a few years away from motorcycling. Most folks are unaware of the fact riding skills are perishable. Your skills can get rusty if you don’t use them for a while. Since it’s important to be sharp while you’re riding, taking a course with us will ensure you’re brushed up and ready for the road ahead.
What Does a Basic Rider Course Include?
Make the most of our state-of-the-art motorcycle rider training by knowing what to expect when you arrive. One of the main things we do is use the updated curriculum from the Basic Rider Course Motorcycle Safety Foundation to provide a consistent, proven experience. The next thing we do is create a low-stress environment where you can learn key information and get some hands-on riding experience. Your motorcycle riding coach will guide you through some basic skills on our training motorcycles. These basic skills include elements like starting the motorcycle, getting the motorcycle to move in first gear, and stopping the motorcycle successfully.
Once you have a handle on the very most basic aspects of riding a motorcycle, we’ll gradually add more skills to build your capabilities. We’ll cover things like shifting, cornering at speed, low-speed maneuvering, quick stopping, swerving, and techniques to help you avoid hazards. In the classroom portion of the course, your motorcycle coach will lead interactive learning exercises to walk you through realistic scenarios and equip you with the strategies you need to ride your motorcycle with confidence once you leave our course.
When you arrive for the course, we’ll provide you with a motorcycle. Scooters are also available upon request at most locations– just let us know in advance of your course date. We’ll also provide you with a helmet and gloves if necessary. The total course includes 15 hours of learning, divided into roughly 10 hours of riding and five hours in the classroom. This mix should give you the ideal combination of mental and physical preparation to begin your motorcycling journey.
Why Should I Take a Basic Rider Course?
All things considered, this course offers a fun and affordable way to turn yourself into a competent motorcycle rider. We’ll help prepare you both mentally and physically, so you can operate your motorcycle successfully. What an incredible value! Select courses are even available in our new online classroom. Learn more about our Basic RiderCourse online classroom to determine if it’s for you.
What Do I Need to Participate in a Basic Rider Course?
The biggest thing you must do to participate in this course is to show up with a great attitude and be ready to learn. Still, there will be a few things you should plan on wearing:
- ¾ or full-face helmet (We’ll provide you with one to use, but you’re also welcome to bring your own from home if you have one)
- Eye protection (if the class is at night, you’ll need to have clear eye protection such as safety glasses)
- Shirt or jacket with long sleeves
- Sturdy pants (at least denim if you don’t have something more rugged)
- Sturdy footwear that goes over your ankle (not canvas shoes like Converse)
- Full-finger gloves (we’ll provide you with some to use, but you’re also welcome to bring your own from home if you have them)
